Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the RFLXN mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by RFLXN ("we," "us," "our"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. ScriptureBuddy — AI disclaimer

ScriptureBuddy is an AI assistant. It is not a pastor, theologian, spiritual director, licensed counselor, therapist, doctor, attorney, or financial advisor — and it is not a substitute for any of them.

ScriptureBuddy's responses are generated by a language model and may contain errors, omissions, misattributions, or interpretations you disagree with. Treat them as a starting point for your own study, not a final answer.

Do not rely on ScriptureBuddy for:

  • Theological authority or doctrinal rulings
  • Pastoral counseling or spiritual direction
  • Medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice
  • Crisis or emergency support (see Section 3)

For any of the above, please consult a qualified human professional whom you trust.

3. Crisis and self-harm

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of self-harm, ScriptureBuddy is not a substitute for professional help. Please reach out to a trained human right now:

  • United States: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)
  • United Kingdom & Ireland: call 116 123 (Samaritans)
  • Other countries: contact your local emergency services or a trusted medical or mental health professional.

If you or someone near you is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

4. Doctrinal stance

RFLXN is intended to be a study companion across denominational traditions. The Service presents scripture in multiple translations and surfaces interpretations from a range of Christian traditions. RFLXN does not endorse a specific theological position, denomination, or interpretive school. Where ScriptureBuddy or in-app content describes differing views, this is descriptive, not prescriptive — your own tradition, community, and discernment remain primary.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Some features of the Service require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on the platform you use. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time from your device's subscription settings; we do not process cancellations directly. Refunds are handled according to the policies of Apple or Google, not RFLXN.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Generate, request, or share content that violates Apple App Store or Google Play policies;
  • Produce content that promotes self-harm, violence against others, hatred targeting any group, sexual content involving minors, or illegal activity;
  • Attempt to bypass safety guardrails, reverse-engineer the Service, or extract the underlying models;
  • Misrepresent ScriptureBuddy's output as authoritative pastoral, medical, legal, or professional advice to others;
  • Interfere with the Service, our infrastructure, or other users' use of it.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Your content

Journal entries, highlights, and other content you create remain yours. You grant us a limited license to store and sync that content as needed to operate the Service for you. We do not use your journal entries or ScriptureBuddy conversations to train AI models (see the Privacy Policy).

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its name, design, software, and original content, is owned by RFLXN and protected by intellectual property laws. Bible translations included in the Service are used under license from their respective rights holders, where applicable.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RFLXN and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service — including, without limitation, any decision made in reliance on ScriptureBuddy output. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, except where local consumer-protection law gives you the right to your home jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after the change indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.
